Welcome to the historic market town of Montgomery. There are many things for you to see and do whilst staying with us here at the Dragon. Our lovely little town set in stunning scenery is the perfect base for you to explore the surrounding area.
Montgomery hosts a wonderful small market in the Town Hall every Thursday selling fresh fruit & veg, fishmongers, cakes & crafts and on a Saturday morning fresh fruit & veg plus a coffee morning supporting the various charities and clubs in the local area where you can buy homemade cakes, and enjoy a coffee & biscuits.
Montgomery also offers 2 hairdressers, a flower shop and a local Spar shop(with cashpoint machine).
A visit to Montgomery would not be complete without a walk up to Montgomery Castle to take in the history and the stunning views, carry on the walk to the top of Town Hill and see Montgomeryshire County War Memorial and again stunning view across Montgomeryshire. Montgomery Church and the infamous Robber's Grave should also be on your list of things to see.
Montgomery has some fantastic places for you to visit, make sure you pop to Bunners the archetypal traditional ironmongers, a veritable aladdin's cave. Take a look at some of Montgomery's history at the Old Bell Museum. Pick up some wonderful art and great gift items at The Little Gallery or Indigo Moon. Also purchase some wonderful creations at Claudia Lis Ceramics, pop in to The Old Store Antiques or Inside & Out.
There are plenty of places to eat & drink in Montgomery as well as with us at The Dragon: If you want to try fabulous Michelin Star cuisine then book a table at The Checkers, one of only 3 Michelin Star restaurants in Wales.
. For daytime snacks, beverages and deli counters try Castle Kitchen or Ivy House Tearooms. For something spicy try The Limes Cottage Indian restaurant.
